Halls and Theatre Volunteer

LiveArgyll have widely recognised hall and theatre venues in Oban and Dunoon.  Both have a full calendar of live events in all areas ranging from live rock bands to ballet productions, all requiring different levels of technical production.

Our Halls and Theatre volunteers will assist in the delivery of live performance, theatre, music and art activities within the Halls and Theatres in Oban and Dunoon.  We are looking for volunteers who have either previous technical experience of working in a theatre background, or are actively working towards a career in theatre technical production. We require Halls and Theatre volunteers to be a minimum of 16 years old.

Your time commitment will be:

  • committing to assisting with our events which take place most weeks in our halls and theatres
  • agreeing with LiveArgyll in advance of events taking place in your geographical areas of either Oban or Dunoon the volunteering times and days that you can commit to, suiting your current commitments

Your involvement will be assisting Theatre Technicians with the following;-

  • set up of stages / performance areas for events
  • set up and operations of PA systems
  • set up and operations of Lighting systems
  • set up and operations of seating / standing areas

Your opportunity is:

  • receiving full and ongoing training for the Halls and Theatre volunteer role
  • gaining training and experience which may help you gain employment in the future
  • meeting new people, being part of a team and connecting with industry personnel
  • enhancing your CV by gaining valuable experience supporting the local arts and events community

Your training will include:

  • attending a site specific induction with ongoing training and support
  • receiving training in stage related Health and Safety matters
  • receiving additional training on the specific tasks and responsibilities that you are undertaking supporting the Theatre Technician

The skills we are looking for are:

  • previous experience in sound and /or theatre lighting OR actively undertaking further education in the subject matter
  • open, friendly and enthusiastic
  • good communication and listening skills
  • ability to interact effectively and professionally with customers
  • being reliable and committed
