LiveArgyll requires your assistance in volunteering to deliver library books and items to residents in their own homes. Our housebound service enables people who can’t visit a library in person to still access our service. We require housebound volunteers to be a minimum of 18 years old.

Your time commitment will be:

due to the nature and demands of this service volunteering time will be variable
LiveArgyll will ensure that volunteers are allocated customers in a geographical area that matches their availability

Your involvement will be:

selecting, delivering/collecting books and other materials to/from Housebound clients
liaison with library staff, clients and other volunteers to arrange deliver routes and client visits
being the main point of contact for enquiries between the client and library staff
signposting housebound clients to other LiveArgyll services

Your opportunity is:

gaining training and experience which may help you to gain employment in the future

meeting new people and working as a team
the satisfaction of allowing housebound clients to access the full range of library stock and the joy of reading/listening
using or developing organisation and planning skills

Your training will include:

a comprehensive induction with on-going training and support

The skills we are looking for are:

interest in reading and enthusiasm for books and Library Services
ability to communicate well with people of all ages and backgrounds
organisational skills
flexible and able to help on a regular basis
ability to work without supervision
reliable and responsible
being physically able to fulfil the role carrying and possibly delivering books
